Shrink Wrapping Equipment
Essentialy there are two common ways to shrink wrapp packages. One is low
cost and manual. The other is more expensive and automatic.
Manual Shrink Wrapper
These work by inserting what you will shrink wrap (box, etc.) between
a folded sheet of shrink film and depressing a heat-sealing arm. The heat
from the arm will cut and seal the shrink film. You then turn the package
90 degrees and seal the remaining open side of the film. A hand-held heat
gun is then used to shrink the package to give it a tight, attractive package.
The process takes about 20 seconds, making it possible to shrink wrap about
150 packages an hour.
Automatic, or 'One Step', Shrink Wrapper Operation
One Step shrink wrappers are trivial to use. The package to be shrink wrapped
is put on a loading tray between the two layers of shrink wrap film. The package
is then moved into the heating sealing area and a hood is lowered. Then, after
the package has been sealed, the hood is opened. Most 'One Step' machines
can complete the process in about 10 seconds, meaning that a fast worker can
complete 300 packages an hour.
